GIRL IN A CRISIS
Crazy Coqs at Live At Zédel,
Monday 26th and Tuesday 27th November 2018
SimG Productions presented the new one-woman musical by
Andrew Fisher,
developed and directed by
Simon Greiff,
that tells the painfully funny story about growing up.
Flic is in a permanent state of crisis. A single, out-of-work actress, she survives by waiting tables, going home in the evenings to her manipulative cat, Miss Fluffington, at weekends she attends the weddings of her smug friends alone, and worst of all dreads that she will soon turn thirty. She is horrified to learn that her perfect younger sister is getting married. Will she be able to overcome her reluctance to find a date, or even love by the time of the wedding…?
Girl In A Crisis
is a new, jazzy song-cycle, and starred Olivier Award winning West End leading lady
Lorna Want
(Beautiful, Evita, Footloose, Parade, The Fantasticks).
"With music and lyrics by Andrew Fisher and directed impressively tightly by Simon Greiff, the 60 minutes fly by, the audience taken on a whistle-stop autobiographical tour de farce as a young, out-of-work actress faces a kind of early mid-life meltdown … Plenty of credit goes to Lorna Want whose manic, emotional and multi-faceted solo role as Flic displays just how versatile a performer she is."

"there is a child-like wholesomeness to their work … numbers that were originally solo pieces are split between two performers, each singer’s own characteristics bringing out their own nuance to Drewe’s carefully crafted lyrics … Daniel Boys, delivering a fearsome Captain Hook … James Gillan powerfully reprises his role as Pan to deliver a rousing finale to the first half … ‘Carrying a Torch’ sung with great tenderness by Beechey … future performances should be unmissable"
Musical Theatre Review
"Extraordinary … lyrics are excellent … music is catchy and memorable … an absolute delight … fantastic show with amazing performances, band was flawless … thoroughly enjoyed the variety, and the interaction with the audience. Lovely mix of voices"
